Brockport to Victor

Beautiful Canal Side Brockport
With showers and bikes to use for cyclist, boaters and hikers we felt very welcome in Brockport NY.

The day in Brockport started witha downhill run that some jerk that went to Brockport disrupted with a short campus tour and a ride on the grassy portion of the Erie Canal through town. The blast from the past was pretty cool for said jerk though.

The old sleeping grounds.

We then headed to the Canal for some fishing and found the perfect spot short of some hackhammering on an old lift bridge. Suzanne had shade, Finn found a very timid doggo to befriend and Henry and I got to fish. We ended that section with one large bass, two smaller ones and a baby bass that had no right getting aggro on our plug.

Big bass of the day.

Norman the Cute Doggo in Brockport
Finn’s friend, Norman.

After rolling out of Brockport and seeing a ?French family? and speaking to a couple locals super happy to hear ahout our adventure we headed to Spencerport, had our traditional pancake and egg breakfast then headed into Rochester.

In Rochester I started remembering the bits of the canal just before Genesse Valley Park and was having a lot of fun seeing my old routes. We took a long break in the always beautiful park and moved on to dinner with my mother at Schoen place.

At Schoen place it was nice seeing the mothership and catching up while being accused of child abuse for taking the children on this bike ride 😉 I let the kids know if they wanted to stay with Grandma they were more than welcome to do so ;)~

I’ll close with this. We’re staying in Victor, not Pittsford-Victor. Because, well, any place that wants you to walk your bike (Schoen place) concedes that there is a LOT of bike traffic. If they in turn do not add any bike focused facilities while providing shore power to the six packet boats holed up on the canal they are both short sighted and lame. Pittsford, this is you. Victor, you have the most welcoming hotel on the trip and the best beer experience. Kudos. We stayed in Victor on my books.

Beer height chair by the canal!
